President's Message

March 2012 Volume XLVIII Number 2

Dear Colleagues,

The AAPD Annual Session provides us our best opportunity to applaud the donors who support us and celebrate the accomplishments of our grantees. On behalf of the Board of Trustees of Healthy Smiles, Healthy Children, I hope you’ll join us in San Diego for our 2012 Donor Appreciation Gala as we take a walk on the wild side at the San Diego Zoo starting at 7 p.m. on Saturday, May 26.

HSHC donors and their guests will get the party started with a tram tour of the entire zoo grounds before arriving at the zoofari area for an evening of live music, drinks, dining and camaraderie. Joan Embery, champion of environmental and preservation issues, will join us, and our guests will have an opportunity to get up-close and personal with some of the zoo’s more sociable residents.

Leader’s Circle, President’s Circle, Gold Circle and Legacy Circle donors will receive two complimentary tickets for the zoo gala. Tickets can be purchased for $625 per person - or, for a Leader’s Circle contribution of $2,000 per year for the next five years, pledge donors will receive two complimentary tickets to the gala each year through 2016.

If you’d like to learn more about what you might see at the zoo, please visit their website at To purchase your tickets or make your multi-year pledge to the Foundation, please contact Tracey Schilligo at (800) 544-2175 or All gala-related proceeds will benefit the Foundation’s Access to Care initiatives.

You’ll be hearing more about our Access to Care efforts throughout Annual Session, as we’ll be awarding our third round of Access to Care Grants in San Diego. We also anticipate announcements of our expansion efforts so we can reach more children in future years. We encourage all attendees to stop by the Foundation’s booth during Annual Session to learn more about our plans and see how they might get involved.

As always, thank you for your ongoing support of HSHC. I look forward to thanking you in person in San Diego.
