Orlando, "The City Beautiful", is Floridas third largest metropolitan area economically impacted by the tourist industry and the convention industry. Where else can a group personally observe alligators by airboat, experience the only place on earth where you can go to the moon, or go behind the scenes of the worlds most famous theme parks? On an annual basis, an estimated 52 million tourists and convention attendees head to Central Florida to experience the many local attractions Orlando has to offer.

The city of Orlando also provides a wide array of theme park attractions, day excursions, retail shopping, sport activities, arts and entertainment, and popular dining establishments. Imagination defines this destination and inspiration can be found around every corner. Orlando is definitely a playground for all ages!

All tour tickets will be handed out at the tour desk located at the AAPD Annual Session registration desk. Tickets will not be mailed out. All tours depart and return from the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin convention entrance.


Thursday, May 23

1:30 – 5:30 pm

Airboats and Alligators

Price: $89 Adult/Child

Jump on board the exciting Airboat Adventure that takes guests everywhere except down the "beaten path". Each boat captain uses their years of experience and knowledge to evaluate the current conditions and lead guests into the most unique encounter possible. With the wind at their back, guests skim across the water experiencing some of the best natural views in Florida. Now this is the "real" Florida!

After the exhilarating airboat ride, guests enjoy a gator handling demonstration with a photo op, and can wander through the newly opened Wildlife Park. Here they have the opportunity to feed 10foot gators, and admire the Zedonks, turkeys, hogs, zebras, and other animals.

 

Friday, May 24

Kennedy Space Center Price: $125 Child (ages 3-11) Price: $158 Adult

AAPDs conference is not complete without a trip to Kennedy Space Center. Located just 45 minutes from the Swan and Dolphin Hotel is NASAs launch headquarters the only place on Earth where you can tour launch areas, meet an Astronaut, see giant rockets and experience the new state of the art Shuttle Launch Simulator Experience. At Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex, guests get the unique chance to tour – up close NASAs launch and landing facilities.

Begin the day with a narrated drive to Kennedy Space Center where guests experience an up close and personal look at the creativity and ingenuity that has gone into creating the most famous space program in the world. The tour begins with a short security clearance followed by a 2-hour tour of the Kennedy Space Center facility including the Apollo Saturn V Center.

 

Following the tour, guests enjoy a lunch accompanied by a NASA Astronaut Corps member who mingles with the guests and an swers any questions they may have about the space program. After lunch, guests will board a NASA bus taking them to the Launch Control Center for a private tour. (Note: Kennedy Space Center is an active launch facility where access to various locations may change to meet operational

requirements. If the Launch Control Center private tour route becomes unavailable, an alternative route to another up-close experience will be offered.)

 

After which the tour concludes guests have free time to explore the Visitors Main Campus; including the 3-D IMAX theaters, the Rocket Garden and NASA Space Shuttle replicas.

Disneys Animal Kingdom® Theme Park Backstage Safari

Experience a three-hour adventurous trek on a backstage safari. Guests take a revealing look at the latest and creative ways specialists meet the unique challenges of animal care and behavior and promote wildlife conversation. Engage in discussions with animal keepers as you visit the Animal Nutrition Center, the state-of-the-art Veterinary Hospital, and ride on the Kilimanjaro Safari.
