AAPD and CMS Present “Compliance for the Medicaid Dental Professional” Webinar

July 2013 Volume XLVIX Number 4

The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD) is partnering with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) in providing an informative 90-minute webinar, "Compliance for the Medicaid Dental Professional". The first webinar was held on June 21 from 1 to 2:30 p.m. (EST). This free webinar will be repeated in September and December for those who could not attend the first one. This webinar is eligible for 1 hour of continuing education credit.

Federal regulations require State Medicaid programs to ensure services are accurate and supported by proper documentation. During this presentation, Dr. Lynn Mouden, chief dental officer for the Federal Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (DHHS) and David Himmelreich, a licensed attorney and senior subject matter expert in the area of Fraud, Waste, and Abuse for Strategic Health Solutions, LLC, will provide a comprehensive overview of Medicaid program integrity, common compliance vulnerabilities, and benefits derived from developing or improving a compliance program. Specifically, the presentation will clarify what documentation of medical necessity means for dental service providers. In addition, the presentation will suggest ways in which written policies, staff training, dental software, and self-audits should assist you in achieving compliance with the requirements of the Medicaid program, while meeting your own expectations for providing quality dental care.

The next webinar will be held Sept. 18 from 2 3:30 EST. Stay tuned for further details
