Prenatal Oral Health Program Website

November 2013 Volume XLIX Number 6

It is with great excitement that the University of North Carolina School of Dentistry's Department of Pediatric Dentistry and School of Medicine's Department of OBGYN introduced the Prenatal Oral Health Program (pOHP©) website.

This free-of-charge interprofessional website aims to improve the health of every woman, fetus and child by engaging health care providers to deliver essential preventive oral health messages and services during pregnancy. The website comes loaded with information on how best to implement pOHP into clinical practice, how to maximize your interprofessional collaboration, and training materials for both prenatal and dental professionals. In the login section you will find training videos, policy statements, and a periodicity section highlighting the overlap between prenatal and oral health messaging. Don't miss the "expectant mother section" with two-to-three minute videos in English and Spanish to share with pregnant women regarding their oral health and that of their baby. For the dental team, list your office as a pOHP-friendly practice for all mothers to view.
