HSHC President's Message: The Gang's All Here

If leadership is about the strengths of those who surround you, I'm truly blessed as HSHC president to be part of the extraordinary group of leaders comprising the HSHC board of trustees.


HSHC Board of Trustees

Courtney Alexander, D.D.S. A pediatric dentist from San Antonio, Texas, Courtney has seen the Foundation from all angles, as a former Harris Fellow, a former resident at an HSHC grantee, and as a member of our Grants and Programs Committee. Courtney is now chair of the Grants and Programs Committee.

Neal Benham, D.D.S. Benham is a dual-citizenship pediatric dentist, with practices in Eau Claire, Wisc., and Naples, Fla. He's our newly appointed vice president and continues his service on our Finance and Audit and Nominations Committees.

Warren A. brill, D.M.D., M.S. (HyG), F.A.A.P.D. Our current AAPD president, Brill is an active member of the Foundation board in addition to his myriad duties as our Academy's president. Brill practices in Baltimore.

Richard Chaet, D.D.S. A new trustee this year, Rick served last year as a grant reviewer and member of the Grants and Programs Committee. A pediatric dentist from Scottsdale, Ariz., he will continue as a member of Grants and Programs.

David Curtis, D.M.D. HSHC's immediate past president and an AAPD past president, Curtis is a pediatric dentist from Columbus, Miss. He serves on our Finance and Audit and Nominations Committees.

Charles Czerepak, D.M.D. Czerepak is a pediatric dentist from Chicago and is a new trustee on the HSHC board. He served last year as a member of the Grants and Programs Committee and will continue this year. Czerepak also is the AAPD parliamentarian.

Douglas Keck, D.M.D. Keck is a pediatric dentist from Guilford, Conn., who was appointed to the Board mid-year last year to fill a vacant position. He begins his first full year with us and continues his role as a member of the Foundation's Development Committee.

Jerome Miller, D.D.S. Miller is our go-to as our trustee emeritus. A past AAPD president and longtime member of the HSHC board, he is one of the Foundation's most staunch supporters and advocates. He is chair of our Nominations Committee and serves on our Development and Finance and Audit Committees.

Madeline Monaco, Ph.D., M.S., M.ed. Monaco is entering her fourth and final year on the HSHC Board as one of two non-dentist "public" members. She is senior director, scientific affairs at Johnson & Johnson and continues to serve on HSHC's Grants and Programs Committee.

Edward H. Moody, D.D.S. Moody is new to the HSHC board this year in his role as AAPD president-elect. He is a longtime Foundation supporter and he practices in Morristown, Tenn.

Nick Rogers, D.D.S. A former affiliate trustee on the AAPD board, Rogers is a new trustee on the HSHC board. A general practitioner from Arkansas City, Kan., he's continuing this year as a member of our Development Committee.

John Rutkauskas, D.D.S., M.b.A., C.A.e. As Chief Executive Officer of the AAPD and HSHC, Rutkauskas also serves as a foundation trustee. He also is a member of HSHC's Development, Finance and Audit, and Nominations Committees.

Neophytos "Ned" Savide, D.D.S. Savide is our secretary/treasurer, keeping a close eye on our finances as part of his officer duties and as chair of the Finance and Audit Committee. Savide is a pediatric dentist practicing in Palos Heights, Ill., and an AAPD past president.

Angela Stout, D.M.D. Stout is a new addition to the HSHC board after joining us as a member of the Development Committee last year. A pediatric dentist from Erdenheim, Penn., she will continue as a member of the Development Committee this year.

Kevin Thomas Our second non-dentist trustee, Thomas also has entered his final year on the Foundation Board. He is co-founder and managing member of Elevate Oral Care, West Palm Beach, Fla., a developer of products meeting the needs of people at a moderate to high risk for developing oral diseases. Thomas serves as Chair of HSHC's Development Committee.

These generous people guide our efforts to support community-based initiatives providing Dental Homes to children whose families cannot afford dental care. Please join us. Every child deserves a Dental Home.
