A Message from Seattle Local Arrangements

January 2015 Volume LI Number 1

I would like to welcome you to AAPD 2015 in Seattle! Known as the Emerald City, Seattle has more things to offer than there are ways to order a Starbucks coffee! In fact, Seattle was re- cently identified by Kiplinger's as one of the "10 Best Cities for the Next Decade." Where else can you hop on a Monorail, waltz through Paul Allen's musical dedication to Jimi Hendrix, be blown away by Dale Chihuly's glass sculptures and soar to the 605-foot Space Needle to gaze at a 14,000-foot mountain and a ferry-filled Puget Sound? That in itself can be done in about an hour, and you haven't even seen a fish fly by your face at the Pike Place Market or heard the 12th Man Roar at CenturyLink Stadium!

Whether it's the Underground Tour, a cruise over to Blake Island for a Native American experience, or a visit to the Museum of History and Industry, there truly is something for everyone. In fact, you may find it difficult to juggle such world-class activities with the gold standard for continuing education at the Washington State Convention Center. Over the last two years, Charlie Bertot and the AAPD have worked very hard to make your efforts to come to the West Coast worthwhile. You will find lectures that will make you laugh, learn and long to put in place when you get back home.

Your home in Seattle, however, will be either the Sheraton, Grand Hyatt, Hyatt at Olive 8, The Fairmont, The Hilton, The Renaissance or the Crowne Plaza. All promise to make your stay warm, dry, hospitable and memorable, because we all want you to return to see what's under the surface you will just merely scratch between May 21 and May 24.
