Welcome to AAPD 2017
by AAPD President Dr. Jade Miller
It’s a pleasure to invite you, your office staff and family to AAPD 2017 near Washington, D.C. All of the planning efforts have paid off and we’re in a great position to have one of the best meetings ever. The scientific program takes place at the Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center allowing most of us to be all under one roof in a state-of-the-art facility located on the Potomac River. Additional hotels are conveniently located across the street at the National Harbor. Come celebrate the 70th Annual Session of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry!
FedExField? Anyone? Don’t miss exclusive access to be on a NFL football field, in the locker room and throughout the stadium. The AAPD Welcome Reception has become the hallmark event in pediatric dentistry. From the bands, games, other entertainment and food, it’s sure to be one of the best. I’d like to thank Sunstar Americas, Inc., for their continued support of the event.
The scientific program promises to deliver the cutting-edge topics you’ve come to expect at the Annual Session. The Preconference Course on Thursday, is Frenums to Pacifiers, Pearls for Treating Toddlers. The opening keynote features Mel Robbins, best known for her TEDx Talk on "How to Stop Screwing Yourself Over" and her book on the brain and productivity, "Stop Saying You’re Fine," is a business bestseller.
The celebration at the Presidents’ Farewell Dinner promises to be an amazing affair at the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History! Be sure to make plans to stay for this wonderful event at the most-visited museum in North America!
Make the most of your visit at National Harbor by exploring the multitude of shops and restaurants, or take in a movie in the harbor at the plaza. Want to go into D.C.? Take a water taxi to the National Mall, Alexandria or the Nationals Stadium. A shuttle at the Harbor is available to take guests to the Tanger Outlet Malls or the new MGM Resort and Casino. Fun is sure to be had by all who attend!
I would like to personally thank the local arrangements: Shari Kohn, Mitali Patel and Anu Tate. Their work to make this a spectacular event is appreciated by me, and will be noticed by everyone.
See you in D.C.!
