The Non-Vital Pulp Therapy (NVPT) Guideline Workgroup (Drs. James Coll, Chair, Kaaren Vaargas, Shahad Al Shamali, Chia-Yu Chen, Abdullah Marghalani, Vineet Dhar, Yasmi Crystal and Reva Bhushan) met during Annual Session to further its efforts on the systematic review and evidence-based guideline. The protocol 1 titled "Systematic review (SR) and meta-analysis of non-vital pulp therapy for primary teeth" is being reviewed by PROSPERO (International Prospective Register of Systematic Reviews). The workgroup members have extracted quantitative and qualitative data. The data has been analyzed, and forests plots have been developed on pulpectomy suc- cess using different root canal fillers. In-vitro antibacterial studies have also been evaluated. A draft SR manuscript is in preparation. The purpose of the SR is to determine the overall clinical and radiograph- ic success for non-vital treatment options in primary teeth with deep caries affecting the pulp or after trauma. The AAPD NVPT guideline will be based on this SR once it is completed. The results of the data analysis were presented by Dr. Coll to the Board of Trustee in Chi- cago during the Annual Session. The SR and guideline are expectedto be published in the first quarter of 2020.
