Over 170 educators involved in predoctoral and postdoctoral pediatric dental education came together for the Annual Joint Academic Day on May 22, 2019. Dr. Homa Amini, Trust- ee-at-Large for Academic Affairs welcomed everyone and moderated the morning program. Rebecca Wallihan, MD from Nationwide Children’s Hospital and The Ohio State University College of Medicine presented a talk on Overcoming the Forgetting Curve: Strategies to Make Learning Stick. Dr. James Boynton discussed faculty retention and reasons why pediatric dentists leave academics. Dr. Marcio da Fonseca and Ranjit Souri spoke about the University of Illinois at Chicago program about Leadership Skills and Emotional Intelligence Development for Pediatric Dentistry Residents. Dr. Sherin Tooks, director of the Commission on Dental Accreditation gave an up- date on activities and current trends in accreditation. Dr. Matt Grady and Mr. Nick Hussong from the ADA Department of Testing Services provided an update and answered questions on the Advanced Dental Admission Test (ADAT). Rounding out the morning were brief an- nouncements about involvement of and by pediatric dentists with activities at IADR/AADR, ADEA and the OSU/Nationwide Fellowship Program.

Following lunch, the Society of Predoctoral Program Directors and the Society of Postdoc- toral Program Directors met and held programs designed to meet their specific needs.
